How do I register online or over the phone?

You should only choose to register online or by phone if there are no changes required to the details in Part A, however you may still use this service to opt out (Part B).

Please note that internet and phone registration is only operational between the end of August and midnight on Sunday 27th November, whilst the canvass is taking place.

Mobile phones

You can register using a mobile phone rather than a landline, but please be aware that it will not be a freephone call - your usual mobile phone network charges will apply.

Security codes

Your security code is to enable you to register online or over the phone and is valid during the canvass period only.

It is printed opposite your address in the top right-hand section of your form and is split into five pairs of numbers.

When submitting your security code either online or via the phone you do not need to include the spaces between the numbers, these are for clarity only.

Confirmation of registration

People successfully registering by phone will hear a "thank you" message; and by internet you will be taken to a confirmation screen (which you have the option to print if you so wish).

If you are having problems with the website 

Some browsers will  not allow access to a home page which contains a cookie (in this case the Secure Sockets Layer Certificate which shows that the webiste is secure ).
To gain access to the website you may need to set your browser to allow mild cookies.   
 
Alternatively, you may be using an IP address which was originally allocated outside the UK/Europe block, but has been re-allocated to a UK/Europe user. Unfortunately this online registration system limits the access to known UK/Europe IP addresses to minimise the risk of illegal access by hackers. 
 
If you are still unable to access the website and it is not because of the reasons above, try typing the address into the Google search engine and you you should get a link to the home page.
If you are still unable to get onto the site, we recommend that you try using the freephone registration line instead.
