The national wraparound childcare programme is part of the childcare reforms announced at the 2023 Spring Budget. The government’s ambition is that by 2026, all parents and carers of primary school aged children who need it will be able to access term time childcare in their local area from 8am - 6pm, so that parents can access employment and improve labour market participation.
You can complete this application if you have:
- Completed an Expressions of interest form for the Wraparound Programme.
- Had an initial conversation with either an Early Education and Childcare Advisor or Wraparound Programme lead or Manager.
- Registered with Ofsted or have a school Unique Reference number (URN).
Please do not complete this form if these do not apply.
Applications need to demonstrate they will be:
- Creating new places - this is where there is no wraparound provision available or linked to a school.
- Extending hours or provision - this is where you may have some wraparound childcare available, but this does not meet wraparound as described by DfE 8am - 6pm. For example, if extending hours, your ASC only runs till 5pm, and you would be expanding the provision until 6pm or if you already deliver a breakfast club and want to develop a new after school club.
- Expanding places - this is where you offer the wraparound offer 8am - 6pm, and want to expand. For example, you offer 18 places and want to offer 27 places, therefore increasing by 9 expanding places.
The following organisations are invited to apply:
- Schools (including special schools) and academies
- Private, voluntary and independent providers and childminders who are working closely with schools.
- New providers - evidence of suitable experience will be required.
Prioritisation based on:
- Application for areas where there is no current wraparound provision linked to the school.
- Application for areas where the current provision is not meeting the DfE definition of wraparound, ‘8am - 6pm’.
If you are a provider who is intending on creating/extending/expanding wraparound provision in multiple schools or locations linked to school. You must submit separate application for each project.
If you are a provider who is intending on creating/extending/expanding wraparound provision in one locality or specific school, which will provide wraparound services to multiple school or areas, please ensure you submit one application and clarify explain this in section 2 and 3.
