A History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects - 100th Object Nomination

As part of the Arts Council England funded Histories of Northamptonshire project Northampton Museums & Art Gallery is hosting a major exhibition “A History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects” in September 2025. In October we have recruited guest curators from across the county to select, research and share stories of significant local objects in the exhibition as well as contributing to an accompanying book, website and podcast series.

With guest curators chosen and 99 objects selected and we now wish to ask the public to help us determine the final 100th object and story to be included in the exhibition.

This final 100th object will be a physical item that tells a particular story of Northamptonshire in the 21st century – and is a way to reflect some aspect of the heritage of the county today. The item must be a physical object (not a photograph, film or sound recording) and must be available for display at the museum from September 2025 to February 2026. It should be no larger than 2 metres (wide, high or deep) in size and clearly support the telling of a story about present day Northamptonshire.

All nominations for the 100th object will be considered by the project panel and a shortlist will be submitted for a public vote in February next year before being revealed at the launch of the exhibition in September 2025.
