Blue Plaques Scheme

The Histories of Northamptonshire Blue Plaque scheme commemorates individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the history and culture of the county. The scheme is an opportunity to celebrate the history and heritage of the wider WNC area, and to recognise some of the many remarkable individuals who have called it home.

All proposals for people to be commemorated by a Blue Plaque are welcome. This will be an open application process. As it is likely that many more proposals will be made than can be approved and installed, consideration of names and final selection will be determined by a Blue Plaque advisory panel. The panel will consider all nominations and make the final selection of Blue Plaques to be installed in this round of the Scheme.

All nominated persons should meet the following criteria, in that they must:

  • be deceased (for at least 20 years)
  • not be a fictitious character or animal
  • have made a significant contribution to the history and culture of Northamptonshire
  • not already be recognised in the WNC area with a plaque, panel or statue
  • have a clear connection with a location or surviving building in the West Northamptonshire area

Please note that submissions where the person does not meet the criteria will not be considered.

We recommend that you complete and submit your nomination in one go as there is no option to save your progress as you progress.  There is a limited time of approx. 10 minutes to complete each page otherwise you will be timed out and unfortunately all inputted information will be lost.

Further guidance and details of the selection criteria can be found on the museum website. It may be useful to consider this before making your nomination.
