Please ensure your vehicle meets the specification in the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing policy.
Transferring a new vehicle on to an existing licence is not permitted. All new vehicles must be licensed as a new grant and the appropriate fee paid. The licence will be granted for 1 year. If you have sold your old vehicle to another West Northamptonshire licensed driver then the licence currently on that vehicle can be transferred to the new owner through an owner transfer. Otherwise the licence must be surrendered.
If you are changing the proprietor of the licence then the existing licence holder will also need to email the licensing team on the address displayed below giving permission for the licence to be transferred and the application for the owner transfer should be submitted by the new owner.
You need the following documents to be able to submit this form:
- Current insurance certificate
- Valid MOT dated within the last 28 days, issued by a Council approved Garage. Please note if your vehicle has passed an MOT but there are advisories listed, these need to be rectified and receipts need to be supplied to evidence all repairs are completed.
- Garage inspection paperwork from a Council approved garage
- V5 or evidence you have applied to DVLA for a V5 in the case of a New Grant or Owner Transfer.
Payment will be taken at the end of this form.
Once your application has been processed and verified your paper licence will be emailed to you and your plate and any other items requested will be posted directly to you from our third party supplier.
